St. Peter Macomb offers two programs for gifted (grades 3-6) and potentially gifted students (grade 2). The program accepts students from in and outside the school district.

January 22-February 22 GATE Application Window Opens (Grades 2nd-5th)

NWEA MAP scores for with Fall 2023 and/or Winter 2024 in Reading and Math assessments
Sign Up for Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) grades 2-6 only. Email ambernill@splcs.net to sign up (include students First & Last Name, Date of Birth, Current School, Teacher, and Grade Level).
Letter of Recommendation (Optional for 1st-6th but highly recommended for students outside of St.Peter)
Possible entrance assessments
Optional IQ Results from the past 18 months
Acceptance will be based on these multiple points of data by a GATE committee.
GATE Application/ Identification Process
Parent Info Night & January Open House
ANY parent can apply for their child.
Once Applications are received (Bridge to GATE) 1st grade teachers complete teacher observation form to go with parents application/observation form. (GATE) 2nd-6th grade students sign up to complete the CogAT assessment as well as a teacher and parent observation form.
GATE Committee Reviews portfolio of scores and information.
Letter of Recommendation sent home.
Parent can choose to appeal GATE committee decision.
