We have had a few parents inquire about summer opportunities for GATE students. Below is information about a scholarship through MAGC as well as links to summer camp opportunities. If you know of any additional programs please email us so we can add them to the list to share with other parents! MAGC Summer Scholarship

With a big 1 whole day of school this week the news was limited so I left it up to the 3rd graders I worked with today to take over the weekly update. You can head to the student page to see what they created.
3rd Grade Parents: Students are going to begin their research on change in the weeks ahead. I am asking each student to bring two photographs of himself/herself. One photograph should be recent while the other should be of the student when he/she was younger (preschool or kindergarten). Students should bring those in by Friday, March 3rd . Thank you! Hope everyone enjoyed their week and we look forward to the month ahead! Mrs. Nill & Mrs. Fitzgerald On Tuesday, students reflected on what they can do since joining GATE. Students were asked what they love and are proud of after pushing themselves and working really hard. They had amazing responses that ranged from an ELA or Math focus to general deeper level thinking and pushing themselves to learn more to improve their understanding. Students also completed a puzzle that challenged them but in the end we were all successful! When they found one way to solve, several students asked if they could try again to find a different way, which made us proud! Some students had the opportunity to be coaches and give tips & support rather than simply providing the solution. They embrace this opportunity.
We hope students enjoy their Mid-Winter Break! Blessings on your weekend, Mrs. Fitzgerald & Mrs. Nill What's Going on In GATE ELA: As we started Q3 some of us are continuing our units and others are starting new ones. Some grades have begun research projects and others are working in a book club. The wonderful part about this curriculum is not only does it build upon their work in the general classrooms but it also builds on each other year after year to really allow students to continuous work toward a different way of thinking and make it a habit. The students have been working so hard and having fun. I am so proud of them! - Mrs. Nill
This months SEL theme is EMPATHY. Students worked with other grades to interview and discuss important events in their life. As listeners the students were able to practice empathy to learn that if we all provide empathy to others we know that others will always be empathizing with us which allows for a safe and fun learning environment for all. |
