Happy Final Week of October!
To be honest it snuck up on me. This year (and in the past) students have worked hard on their dictionary skills and learning the value of using this tool to deepen their comprehension. So we are going to celebrate that by having our first Dictionary Dress Up Day for grades 3rd-5th on Tuesday, October 31st. Students in 2nd and 6th grade do not have to participate but can if they would like. Everyone else started working on their word on Friday and can be as creative or basic as they would like. I gave them time in class to brainstorm some ideas and begin creating something. They can do this completely at school or if they want to add some creativity to it then can at home as well but it isn't required. We have been focusing on the importance of words in reading and how intentional they are from the author and it is our job to pay attention to them to deepen our understanding. Hopefully this activity will help them always remember that. Let me know if you have any questions. Here are some other students on Pinterest that have participated in something similar www.pinterest.com/texascraftylawyerAJW/dictionary-dress-up-day/. I will post photos next week! Blessings, Mrs. Nill
