This week we celebrate the greatest gift of all, the birth of Jesus Christ. We continued that as we celebrate the gifts that God has given each of us. Ask your student to see the gift box they received from their classmates that make them so unique and important to our GATE classroom family. Of course, we also had to celebrate with hot chocolate, cookie decorating and fun Christmas themed challenges in ELA and Math. As we leave for Christmas break we want to wish you and your family a restful and healthy time off. We are so blessed to have each of our students and families in our lives. See you again on January 9th!

ELA UpdateBridge to GATE
Happy December!
This week our Bridge and GATE students completed SEL Lesson #2: Building emotional vocabulary with feeling words. They learned feeling words to describe certain emotions they may experience. Students focused on the following vocabulary words: anxious, ecstatic, content, irritated, discouraged, terrified. We talked about how some feelings like content and ecstatic may both be pleasant but have different degrees of happiness. We identified which photos of people represented the emotions and then created graphic organizers to define, draw, and give examples/non-examples of each emotion. Lastly, students worked in pairs to play charades acting out the emotions. They definitely had fun with this activity! They reflected on what they wrote about their learning after the first lesson and added on. We had a great week and hope you have a great weekend! Mrs. Fitzgerald & Mrs. Nill |
