It will always surprise us how fast the months go. Didn't we just start school in and now we are over one month down. Next week we are going to start to helping students create their own goals for GATE and their classrooms. We will share these with you at conferences.

It was a great week with our full normal schedule! We are now in a routine & diving into our first units. We start every day by uniting (team building activity), breathing, & connecting through prayer.
We have continued to work on social skills such as giving eye contact, facing the speaker & acknowledging with body language, & active listening. We will begin our Life Skills unit soon with a focus on SMART goal setting. Former students have referenced their goal from last year during lessons so we know how important this is & how active they are in working to achieve their goals. This week in Math:
Mrs. Nill & Mrs. Fitzgerald We began are normal schedule this week Tuesday. Many classrooms were NWEA testing so we weren't able to completely start our full schedule yet. Next week Monday-Friday will be our first full normal week schedule.
Our first units for ELA have begun. You can find a detailed description with each units goals on the curriculum page of the site or by clicking the unit below.
As we move through the units never hesitate to reach out with any questions. We will also begin our novel studies in each grade next week. When we get to the research and unit projects for each grade I will be sure to send an email with detailed information on due dates and more. Enjoy pictures from some of our 2nd and 4th graders as they began to explore our new units! We had another great week of learning & growing with our GATE family! Next week on Tuesday (due to Patriot walk Monday) we will be starting our normal weekly schedule. We are excited to get into a routine & consistent schedule!
Below you will find pictures from our cooperative learning & team building activities from this week. Students:
It was great to see so many of you at Curriculum Night! We have uploaded the powerpoints on our website under the curriculum tab in case you have any questions. As always we are here to support your student, their teacher, & you to make this year the best it can be! Have a great weekend! Mrs. Fitzgerald & Mrs. Nill Wow! September?! Time flies when you're having fun and we had a lot of that this week in GATE. Students finished their team building activities from last week, viewed the clouds in a new way, and learned how to play the new games that were purchased off the GATE Amazon wish list (thank you!). Thursday, September 7th is Curriculum Night. There will be no presentation from GATE teachers. Instead you will find our slides presentation below for 2nd grade, 3rd-5th, and 6th grade. Review it before you head to curriculum night and feel free to come ask us any questions while you are there. We will be in our room before Chapel starting at 6:00 and then in the crossroads after to talk through anything you have questions about. So feel free to talk with us anytime between 6-8 p.m. Have a great long weekend ahead! Blessings, Mrs. Nill & Mrs. Fitzgerald |
